San Jose, California June 11, 2002. Electric Wheels International
(EWI), the exclusive distributor for Merida electric bicycles and ETC
electric bikes and conversion packs, has signed its 100th retailer, Brian
Scott Bikes of Key Largo, Florida. To celebrate, EWI presented owner Brian
Scott with a Merida electric bicycle and an ETC Express power pack. Merida,
one of the worlds largest builders of premium quality bicycles,
started producing electric bikes on 1999. ETC introduced the Express power
pack in 1997, and will soon introduce a line of electric scooters.
Gary Coffrin, EWI President and founder, said, "I am delighted to
present these prizes to Brian. Although we started our business just a
few months ago, retailers are getting word that recent advances in motor
and battery technology have made higher performance levels more affordable.
Dealers are getting word of EWIs high service levels and that we
can supply all of their needs for Light Electric Vehicles."
EWI Marketing Manager Matt Serafini noted, "Retailers are understanding
that new 3rd generation products have made electric more exciting. With
76 million aging boomers at the peak of their income earning power, electric
bicycles may be the only bicycle related product category that we can
say with confidence will grow during the next 5-10 years."
Headquartered in San Jose, California, EWI is fanatical about treating
dealers right and providing products with the durability and value they
demand. EWI products, including the ETC line of battery powered bikes
and scooters and Merida electric bicycles, are sold exclusively through
EWI dealers. EWI can be reached at (408) 270-3724 or by fax at (408) 270-3822.
