Electric Wheels Intl. Named USA Distributor for Merida Electric Bikes

San Jose, California – April 30, 2002. Electric Wheels International (EWI) has been named the exclusive USA distributor for Merida electric bicycles. Merida, a publicly traded company, is one of the world’s largest builders of premium quality bicycles. Merida is internationally recognized for its innovative designs, attention to detail and exacting standards of quality and durability.

Recently, Merida and EWI celebrated the relationship and the conclusion of five day’s technical training for EWI’s staff. Merida’s Senior VP of R&D, David Horng, saluted the new partnership by saying, "It’s great to be working with a crew that is so dedicated to providing top-notch customer service."

EWI is working exclusively with specialty retailers to build its Merida dealer base. Gary Coffrin, EWI President and founder, said, "I started my own bicycle store at age 23, and have been in the industry ever since. I understand how important proper assembly is to a customer’s positive riding experience. That is why we sell our Merida electric bicycles to specialty retailers and do not sell electric bicycles on the Internet."

In a test of electric bikes held in Germany, the Merida PowerCycle™ received the top 5-Star rating. Tekniikan Maalima, the test’s administrator, reported, "Merida has checked products of competitors carefully and their own construction solutions are a few steps ahead."
EWI Marketing Manager Matt Serafini noted, "Advances in motor and battery technology have made higher performance levels more affordable. We can now offer dealers dependable products from top manufacturers."

Headquartered in San Jose, California, EWI is fanatical about treating customers right. The ETC line of battery powered bikes and Merida electric bicycles, are sold exclusively through EWI dealers. EWI will sell the ETC Express power conversion pack and the upcoming Cap’n Billy’s Whiz Bang electric scooter directly to consumers if a dealer is not in their area. EWI can be reached at (408) 270-3724 or by fax at (408) 270-3822. Their e-mail is info@electricwheelsintl.com
